It is with great pleasure that my wife and I have the privilege to
have had Cary Hy as the builder of our home and be able to
enthusiastically recommend him today. Building a custom home can be a
monumental task, one that can quickly get out of hand both financially
and logistically.
Thankfully, through a thorough interview process, we chose Cary Hy to build our home. Cary’s experience, organization and integrity proved to be a perfect combination for us and enabled us to build the home we wanted, in the budget we had and in the end have the peace of mind that we built the best home we could have hoped for.
During the process of building the home, we found Cary consistently challenging his resources to be more efficient without lacking quality and he also challenged us to do the same. It is safe to say that Cary saved us significant dollars by recommending unique alternatives and perspectives we would not have had otherwise. I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Cary Hy Custom Homes.
We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to build our "Dream House." That was in 1998. 12 years later we consider ourselves lucky to have chosen Cary as our builder.
While Cary has a talent for design and taste, we brought our own architect to the table, who had a reputation for designing homes that we loved. Cary’s naturally collaborative way blended perfectly with our architect—and sometimes he provided a common sense, practical point of view. More than 10 years later, that environment produced decisions that we are glad we made. Building a "non-traditional" home required the same kind of Contractor Agreement. From the beginning, Cary worked with us to come to a contract that fit the job. Today, I feel that Cary was the only builder for our job.
Of course after we built our home I discovered that most builders are "remote"—that is, they drive by the site, and manage construction with a cell phone. With Cary, that was never the case. Every day, Cary was on our site, managing the quality of the sub-contractors. Cary had his rubber boots on the day of our slab-pour and made sure that all plumbing and reinforcement was correctly placed. As the design and construction progressed, I grew to trust Cary’s judgment with respect to quality—if Cary was happy with the work, I was happy. Sometimes we had to move a door-way, a window—it didn’t matter because Cary made sure it was right. Remember, he had the architect looking over his shoulder.
Today, the most important quality that Cary Hy Custom Homes brings to the table is ongoing support. When you’re building a house, that’s all you think about—getting the house done, and getting moved in. But, in truth, the more important moments come down the line when you need help with maintenance help, like resealing the concrete joints in the driveway and pool deck (after 12 years, believe me, it will need to be done), additional electrical wiring, and painting jobs. Cary has always been there with my building plans in hand, offering advice and recommendations when I needed them.
Looking back more than 10 years, I have to say that Cary Hy has an extraordinary sense of detail, quality, personal integrity, and follow-up. As time passes, these are the most important qualities in a builder.
